Steve is a proven leader with decades of law enforcement and administrative experience.
Sheriff Steve Bush brings unmatched experience to the role of Floyd County Sheriff. Starting as a patrol officer in New Albany in 1991, he rose through the ranks over three decades—serving as a detective, SWAT team member, and eventually as a Merit Captain leading proactive crime prevention efforts. In addition to his law enforcement service, Steve also served 12 years as a Floyd County Commissioner, including six years as board president. In 2022, the voters of Floyd County elected him Sheriff—and he got to work on day one.
